thermostat question
if you want a thermostat get a 180*, like sitnlopro said...you need a certain amount of heat to make good hp, and a 180 keeps the engine a little cooler but still in a good heat range to make optimal hp...and the only reason i see you needing a tuner for it is if they allow you to adjust the engine temp range
As others have said, a 160* stat will give the ECM some fits.Ocassionaly it will think the car is still warming up and keep it inopen loop operation (fuel, spark, etc, from internal tables) instead of closed loop (letting the ECM use the O2 sensors feed back to set fuel, spark,etc.). Runs rich.If you must change the stat use a 180*.
If you do change the stat (160* or 180*)you should go in to the ECM and change the "fan on and off" settings to match which ever stat you use. Hp gains are negligable but the cooler engine will love you for it.
