well I got it Sunday from a friend off another 00 GT. In first if i go slow and let it idle down from 2300 or so i hear the whinning/grinding sound.... in 5th also on the highway if I let off the gas i can hear it.

Now it's quiet, windows have to be up and radio off... am I to picky?

120K on car are synchros going bad?

But it only started when I put shifter.... i have taken it on/off several times and adjusted stopsa million times... are the springs keeping it to tight in 1st and 5th causing it to pull shifter towards neutral?

Please help!

 

Sounds like normal tranny chatter with a short throw. If if really bothers you and you don't mind taking it off, take a look at cobrabob's gasket. Otherwise, get used to it and enjoy the short throw.
