Default High stall torque converter?

Where is a good place to get one? I'm looking for about 3800 RPM stall. The one I have sucks.

Simple. DirtydOg peformance. He supplies converters to BC-Automotive who makes one of the best 4R70W's. You can call Alan at 1-513-535-7153. Tell him Mark sweet recommended him. He makes a converter that will handle having it lock up in 2nd gear giving even better et's. About $525. for that 10" version. Mark
PS: what converter are you using now?

I running this "high stall" 2600 RPM lockup eBay special that I got for $200. It works fine, but it feels just like the stock one.

That's because the stok converter has 2600rpm stall!
Depending upon the power(torque) that is input the converter has a rating from 2350 to 2750rpm. I tested mine in 2nd gear on a steep hill and when I goosed the throtle the tach flashed to 2600 or so. Alan will build you a 10"(stcok is 11.25") with as much as 3800rpm stall that will most likely drop at least .7 from your times if you have gears and some mods. You'll need a tranny cooler. If you have an SCT tuner you can have Darrin of BC-automotive flash it to lock a second after the 1-2 shift for better et's. Good luck and let me know how it works out for you. Mark

3800 stall is pretty steep. Is this a DD? It sound like a bit much for a DD.

Not with a lock up converter like this car has. Forget old shcool thinking on these newer cars. I have 4000 rpm stall in my car and I have used it for a dd.

JD does that converter have a little "mushiness" until say 1100-1200rpm's? Alan said that the 3800 stall would be felt a little until then and if that was not acceptable he could do a converter that would not be felt at all with about 3300-3400 stall. Thanks, mark

It's a little soft down low, but it takes off pretty normal, unless you floor it. I really don't notice it though.

No, it's not a DD. I take it out every week or so and do drive it on the streets. I mostly drive my little Saturn around.

Then go big on the converter.
