Default Hypertech Programmer???

I am thinking of buying a hypertech programmer for my car. The guy wants $200 for it. Has anyone used one of these and does it make that big of a difference? Is this a good deal on the programmer?

Worthless... It only comes with a general box tune and is completely not customizable. You might gain 5hp if and only if your vehicle is completely stock. Spend the extra $$$ to get an SCT tuner.

So how big of a gain would I see from a SCT tuner? Where is the cheapest place to get one?
