Default Startup problem

I have an 03 Gt... It usually happens after i have driven for awile and my engine is nice and warm and i shut her off to run into the store or something. Well when i come back to my car to start it i either have to hold the key in the 'start' position forever and sometimes i have to even try it a few times before it will start. What could be causing this? I though maybe a new battery is needed? It will wind up forever it just seems to have trouble actually starting.

That happened to me also but after I checked the starter and it wasn't that I fugured out that the alternator was over charging and arching something in the electrical system that made the car difficult to start. I think it triggered the car alarm system or something not really sure but after I replaced the alternator all was fine. 2cents.
