Pushrod>modular. Not a comparison.

Yeah the motor in my dad's Shelby Cobra is a 351W bored out to 392cid. He's making at least 420rwhp N/A. But then again, the car weighs under 2000lbs and the driveshaft is only 1.5 ft long!
I'm not sure what the liters are on a 392cid? Anybody know? I know the 351w is a 5.8L.

Hmm...didn't think about that. I always thought Modulars were better performers than pushrod motors? Just because they are newer, I guess. [&:]

lol. Thats crazy talk[8D]. Pushrods FTW.
Newer means more crappy emissions control. lol

RE: maximum cubic inch
The only real disadvantage a modular has compared to a pushrod is the complete lack of availblity of a true aftermarket head.
If your talking about doing a big CI 5.4L based setup I might think again. To make it really make since you will be needing to shoot for BIG numbers, which means a TON of money into everything else (plus the engine).
Theres simply no need unless you want to make say 700+ WHP. Anything before that and a much more cost effective stock displacement 4.6L will still do the job.

Either way, the Ford GT/GT500's new cylinder heads are outstanding, so making big numbers with the 5.4L V8s is no problem now. I believe JLP is gonna be making conversion kits for those who want 4v heads on their Lightnings.

RE: maximum cubic inch
800hp n/a wont be streetable.... how 800 hp with like 6-- torque? most n/a v8's will make more torque than hp... but i can see it making 500hp n/a... you will have the internals and such too that you can run a 200 plus shot of nitrous if you really want more power...

RE: maximum cubic inch
i doubt your going to get that kind of power on pump gas, and with the dimensions of that engine, your going to look more at 600 hp and 800 ft-lbs (thats not literal, but your going to have torque out the ying yang with a bore:stroke ratio of < 1

Nah, GMs 6.0L LS2 is 364ci, and Chrysler's SRT-8 6.1L HEMI is 370ci, so I'd say that 392ci is right around 6.4L-6.5L
