Going to do an oil change next week and I am probably picking up the oil tomorow.

How long should I run before changing it?

They say 15 k miles or one year, but that seems like a long time.

I have never used that because I just don't trust it for 15,000. I think you would still need to change the oil filter during that time though- not positive.

If its motor oil, change it every 3,000-5,000 miles, no if an or buts. 15 k on a motor oil change and the clogged oil pump gods will come visit you and make you have to get a new engine all together. AND ALWAYS change the oil filter every oil change.

Sorry to start stealing the thread, but would you want to change the oil filter more than once every oil change if it isn'tbeing changed again for15K miles?

+1.....this really doesnt make any sense, why would you trust that on your stang??? change your oil every 3k miles, get a beater car to test this "once a year" oil change, and i would still change the filter periodically

Maybe to some people. I love this thing and it is my investment. I am 19 years old and paying for the car, insurance and mods. I don't just beat the thing.

i wouldn't trust that oil, just get some mobil 1 synthetic and a good filter and start saving for the next change in 3000 miles

I use mobil 1 and change it every six months, I never drive more than 6,000 miles in six months.

Synthetic oil is suppose to be changed every 7500 miles or so depending on your usage! Mobil has that new oil that is EXTENDED they call it and lasts for 15kmi. It does last as long as they say, just depends on how you use your car! There is not one single oil out there that breaks down in 3kmi!!!! I took a whole class and researched many things on oils in college. Oil doesn't break itself down!! The detergent in the oil is what actually breaks the oil down! The Extended has far less detergents in it therefore it lasts much longer. It uses teflon synthetics to clean your engine instead of oldschool detergents! Back in the 70's and 80's people NEVER changed their oil every 3kmi. It was always add oil until the new year came. I'm serious. I use Mobil 1 Extended in my car and beat up on it for the most part. I put 1500 miles on it last year and will run it this summer before it gets changed, but no it will not go the full 15kmi or even close just because it will have been in my car for over a year! As far as oil filters you want one that traps the smallest particles out there. Smallest micron filters available! Purolator Pure one, K&N, certain Fram's and believe it or not the AC delco is one of the best ones! You dod not need to change the filter but once every oil change. I would HIGHLY reccomend getting an oil filter magnet!!! It wraps around your oil filter and runs about $25 through Summit
