Why would you want to put undue stress on your suspension just to...hmmm what is it...slide your carto hell like it's on an ice rink? Maybe I'm just an old fart who doesn't understand these things. [8D]
Alright...I'll buy that.

drifting is possible with mustangs, your gonna need to brace the hell out of the stang, sfc's stb's reinforced/lighter k member, a arms, get rid of the uca's go with a phb and ta, with a nice set of lca's also get yourself some cross drilled/slotted rotors to help keep the heat down, light rims, and the most important is upgrade the nut behind the wheel^^

things that might help are aluminum driveshaft, steeper gears, a limited slip diff, and if you have any power adders you might as well upgrade the shafts.

Also please don't go half assed when doing something as extreme to your car as drifting, i doubt any of us would like to read another stang accident thread=/

Well actually i"ve been drifting with my 1998 Mustang GT for about 3 months now and the only issue i've had is overheating the engine. The suspension actually holds up fine but I think I need a water/methanol collant system to keep my engine cool at high rpms. I have about 250hp but the dyno I ran it on said I had about 35Olbs of torque. I said **** that exhaust **** and gutted the whole system. I put on some shorty headers, a x-pipe with hi-flow converters, and 2 cheap *** straight thru glasspacks and I got more horses out of that than the Magnaflow performance exhaust it already had. The only thing you need to know that the faster the air gets in the engine and the faster the exhaust leaves the faster your car will be.

A mustang cant drift? WTF? Did anyone know that the Vaughn Gittin Jr.in his 2005 mustang wont the D1GP in 2005... Which basicly means he won the season, thats like the daytona of nascar. Sure that car has a different suspension than our cars but its got a 600rwhp 4v 4.6....

It is totally possible to drift in a stock mustang. But your car will be very unpredictable and it will make it difficult to get consistant. You could put an IRS in the rear which will make the car have a similar feel when drifting left and right. If you dont know what im talking about, have you ever noticed its easier to slide the car counter-clockwise rather than clockwise? Thats because looking fromt he back the driveshaft turns counter-clockwise which makes the axle want to twist in that direction. So that means alot more weight is on the left wheel and less weight on the right... The first mods you should do to your car is suspension, anything from solid upper and lower control arms, 3 link with panhard bar or watts link, or steeda's 5 link... Anything the car solid and predictable. There is so much bind and twisting in the stock suspension every corner is going to behave differently with the stock suspension. Then after that work on the brakes and engine.

you need to worka lot on the front suspension expecially on mustangs. First you need to have your front control arms extended to increase your turning radius this will allow you to control and steer the vehichle under an extreme drift. Secondly your going to need to control the excessive understeer that plagues mustangs, this will also allow for more "control" when sliding.

And just because drifters use the e-brake doesnt mean they dont have the power its just a technique to use... I bought this video. "drifting Bible" http://store.driftingshop.com/driftbible.html I got it in FYE which is in most malls...
