Well, at the drag strip, that could be the case...the IRS, stock, is a helluva lot harder to launch properly than the solid axle in the GT. The biggest problem with it is wheel hop, which has ruined more Cobra owners' days than anything else I can think of So yeah, at the strip, what he's saying is understandable....but anywhere with turns, that IRS will run circles around him, stock for stock.

the IRS is prone to wheel hop so unless the cobra has some suspension then a solid rear end will outperform an IRS. That being said...if the IRS is setup properly it will outperform a solid rear end.

True about the wheel hop, but what about all of the other performance parts a cobra has? I would think if he's all stock except the motor, the terminator should still beat him.

The GT might have a few pounds on the Cobra since it doesn't have the IRS.

It'll be a drivers race due to the weight, with the GT having an advantage.

However it will not ride or handle anywhere near as nice as the Cobra.

irs weighs more than a solid rear.

my buddy in his 04 cobra blew out his rear on his very first pass in that car due to wheel hop.

Just gives you an excuse to build the rear end and make in indestructible [sm=badbadbad.gif]
