99-04 gt rear better?
ok so i have this question in my head my buddy has a gt body and he had swapped a 03cobramotor into it with everything with it .....he was telling me that his car will perform better than the reguar cobra beacuse he doesnt have the IRS and there fore in the track he beatsstock 03 cobras with his gt with the 03 motor in it ...do you guys think this is true..i mean i have seen him beat them on the street but idk theres so many other factors like driver and other little things what do you guys think?

Well, at the drag strip, that could be the case...the IRS, stock, is a helluva lot harder to launch properly than the solid axle in the GT. The biggest problem with it is wheel hop, which has ruined more Cobra owners' days than anything else I can think of So yeah, at the strip, what he's saying is understandable....but anywhere with turns, that IRS will run circles around him, stock for stock.

the IRS is prone to wheel hop so unless the cobra has some suspension then a solid rear end will outperform an IRS. That being said...if the IRS is setup properly it will outperform a solid rear end.

The GT might have a few pounds on the Cobra since it doesn't have the IRS.
It'll be a drivers race due to the weight, with the GT having an advantage.
However it will not ride or handle anywhere near as nice as the Cobra.
