THR 99 GT Project: 9 sec 2V GT...Pics up
Here's a few pics of the car coming apart. We decided to make it a true race car and dump all the extra weight while trying to keep the interior looking complete. Our goal is to put this car in the single digits with a ton of weight reduction, the best suspension and chassis work from our vendors, and a THR Forged 283 inch motor with Heads, Cams, our new HPS Alum Intake, and a killer TNT Nitrous Kit.
Stay Tuned as we start putting her back together next week after the cage is completed. We'll definitely make a trip up to Northern Texas for some track times when we get it together, so get your stangs ready to roll this spring and we'll make it a Mustang Forums track day so we can help everyone dial in their combo's and suspension to get those Killer ET's and wheels up launches!
Pic of here late tonight before she goes to our chassis shop for the cage:
Here's the stock motor and front suspension and brakes about to go bye-bye for lighter stuff!
Here's the dash on it's way out so we can dump some dead weight by removing the heater box, core & A/C:
Motor's Out and holes blocked off in the firewall for NHRA safety spec. It's a bit dirty so we decided to clean her up:
Some spare parts like the stock brakes, ABS controller, Master Cylinder, Struts, etc...didn't need em anyway!
Cleaned Up the bay a bit...You can also see the nice UPR chromoly Suspension up front! 100 lbs lighter too!
Aerospace Brakes to help stop the speeding bullet and to shed some more weight:
Another pics of the Aerospace Brakes and the super lightweight Weld Alumastar 2.0's up front. Wheel & Tire mounted are a scant 24.58 lbs.
The new Hollow out dash:
Bumper Support gone!
Bumper gone and support out makes her much lighter. Going back with a 99-01 Cobra Front and New Harwood 4 inch cowl to shed some more lbs.
Well, check back in as we upade the project and bring her back to life. If you all have any questions, let us know. Thanks!

Thanks! We will definitely have a couple more pics and a ton of video from the track and some street stuff here. For the meantime, here's a couple pics of the motor getting completed. THR Forged 4.6, .20 over, 11.4:1 Compression, Stage II ported Heads with bigger valves & .600 lift springs, VT Stage II Nitrous Cams (these rock! Thanks Jim & Scott @ VT), all new front chains, guides, and tensioners, and a new front cover & valve covers to top it off. We can't wait to hear this one fire off and come to life. Don't worry, we'll have vid of it for you all to share!
THR Forged 4.6 2V modular motor...notice the ARP studs for the heads and the high compression pistons. 4cc dish should make close to 11.5 compression, great for some race gas & nitrous!
New Front cover sure cleaned up things!
Cobra oil pump conversion & canton 7 qrt for some extra safety. We also sprayed the valve covers gunmetal grey metallic with some high temp & clear. Makes a nice contrast to the silver on the front cover and our HPS intake when she's all finished.
Almost there!
I'll try to have another update with some caged pics next week. Thanks!
