RE: What is most cost effectve brake upgrade
Dumb question, but with the Mach1 upgrade, do they use the same pads as a GT?? I've done brakes rotors and pads before, how bad is the front upgrade install for a intermediate wrench turner?Da**!! I HATE bleeding brake lines....diditon my g/f's car.....let's just say we didn't get one side done before I called a buddy over to help.

The install is extremely easy. Its not any harder than swapping your rotors/pads, other than having to remove the line and reinstall.
The brake bleed is super easy too. Just make sure the bleeder is on the top of the caliper when you install (has to be to bleed correctly) and its no big deal. Depress pedal, hold, open bleeder, close bleeder, pump brakes a few times, rinse and repeat
BTW, the bullitt upgrade, even if you go with the stock rotors/pads, are superior to just going with vented rotors of the stock size. The 13 inchers really are alot bigger than the little 11.xxs, and they look alot better too

http://www.xenonmods.com/ <--- running poinyvinyl for calipers,
cross drilled and vented rotor are just for show and do little in helping day to day usage, I would rather go with a plain rotor and have more of a contact patch to deal with, if you reallly do not want a plain rotor then the slotted directional rotors are a nice replacement on a dd.
The mach1 brake kit from buyfordracing comes with the 13" rotors braided lines and calipers with the pads already in them. it took me about 30 mins to do it all, and I'm a complete mechanical newb (only thing done before that point is oilchange, xpipe install, catback install.) But we did it at my friends shop, used his lift and some of his other tools that helped with bleeding.

When doing the rear brake upgrade can I throw a bigger rotor (11.65)in there and use the stock cailpers and just buy the brackets to make the rotor fit or do I have to switch out the caliper to make it work. Trying to save some $$$ and time

we have the same calipers as the cobra's do, you just install the mounting brackets, swap out the rotors, and you hafta switch from gt spec brake pads to cobra spec, due to a larger rotor you hafta run a slightly thinner pad.

Armydad, if you are really looking for a braking upgrade on a small budget get the stock fronts from a 99-04 GT from someone who did a 13" upgrade...or if the $350 won't kill your budget do the Bullitt swap. I also bought mine from www.buyfordracing.com
