Intake silencer????
Hey guys a buddy of mine told me i should take my intake silencer off??? good idea or bad idea? just so noone is confused it the rubber piece that connects to the cone and goes through the fender...

heh, I think everyone on MF is aware of the whole silencer trick. There is a sticky on it somewhere, but yeah, I took mine off and dropped a K & N filter...you will hear the air getting sucked in, plus it should be a little less restrictive on the air flow....
Now that I've done it however, I'm leanin more towards just getting a CAI (cold air intake).

Ummm... more like 3. I know, I dyno'd it. 226rwhp stock, 229 with silencer removed and K&N FIPK installed.

here ya go....read the article....if you add a k&n its about 9hp just as i said.
remove the silencer (4 -5 hp).....add a k& n (3-5 hp)....equals about 9hp = pretty much a cai

+1. 3 hp is more like it. You couldnt get 9 hp unless you did like heads+cam+full exhaust and then upgrade the air filter!
