+1 I had somewhat the same stuttering problem. Changed the coil packs and seems to be all better.

check the coil packs, wires, plugs... if anything replace them... if that doesn't fix it, then take it to a tranny shop.

I get your drift on the wheel size... but being he said it made a loud clunk noise and didnt shift into the higher gear (OD?), and it now shudders, wheel size is probably a bit off at this point! I still say it is the Torque Converter or other related tranny problem... id also be interested to know what the tranny fluid level is like...

+1 on the coil packs get those replaced and I think that will fix your problem

I used to have an 02 Camaro and ran into the same problem. The car used to shutter when I would accelerate. The harder I accelerated and the higher the RPMS went, the more it shuttered. It ended up being one of my coil packs. I would check them first. Fortunately, they are cheap to replace and easy!

It sounds like your car detonated. I had a vortech on my car but my motor blew up from the guy at the dyno putting 16 degrees of timing in it. Before it blew though, it wouldnt go past 130mph, then 110mph, then 90mph. At that point my car had a miss and cyclinder #8 was dead. Four of my spark plugs were gone. Check yours before you get on it again.
My friends 2000 GT did the same thing. He said his car has been losing power of the last couple of days.One night wewere at work and he started it up and he was like "I think I have an exhaust leak?" but I told him it sounded bad like a misfire. The next day I went over his house to help him check his car. He starts it up and we hear a couple of pops. We popped the hood and his number 8 cylinder's coil wire was bent and sticking up out of the shaft that the spark plug is in. How that happens... only God knows. So we go to Ford and he spends 97 dollars on a new coil. We put it in. Happens again this time on a highway. Gets his car towed to Ford and 850 dollars later they said it was a "heili coil" or something?
