Default motor oil

well i will never let any1 change my oil ever again......

my brother is in an auto class in his highschool and wanted to change my oil while i was at work, to make a long story short, after i told him mobil 1, he said autozone was out of it and he used a dif. mobil synthetic

note my car has been using synthetic for over 2 years now, but i noticed he put in mobile "5000 clean" which is NOT a synthetic blend!!!!!

well iv driven about 75 miles on it.....how much damage have i done? what should i do? should i just swap out oil back to synthetic??

IMO since you have been running a blend you will be fine, but I would change it out for the blend that you have been running. BTW don't get to pissed at your bro, he was only trying to help!

i just called napa, and the guy there told me that the synthetic only thing is a MYTH!

that they are interchangable as long as the car doesnt require one or the other....now im just confused! i have ALWAYS heard otherwise.....

am i freaking out about nothing? or should i still spend another 50-60 bucks and change my oil again?

I am assuming that your brother completely drained the car? If so, and he replaced the oil entirely with the mobil clean, you should be fine. Your car can wait till next oil change, unless it really bothers you. Your car should be fine. Just dont mix and match oils!!!

1) Kick him in the tea bag
2) Check that he used 5W-20 or at worst case 5W-30 and not some heavywieght like 10W-40
3) If he used a Fram filter, kick him in the ***** again.

From Mobil1's site: "With Mobil Clean 5000, you’ll get 16 percent more cleaning agents than our conventional oil" Personally if it were my car I'd dump that crap and put some full syn back in. "Cleaning Agents" just doesn't sound healthy for the motor. It reminds me of when Penzoil had parafin wax in thier oil that would build up and gunk the engine. Just my semi-worthless opinion.

P.S. Spend the money and get Mobil1s filter if you havent already.

well good news actually, he used a mobil 1 filter....and trust me, a "tea bag" kick will be happening at about 3 pm!

and yes, the 5000 clean mobil oil is 5w-20.....hes at least smart enough to read the oil cap!

Yeah he was just trying to help you out, not to mention rock a Mustang to school. At least he didn't do what this kid did back when I was in auto shop in high school. The kid had his parents SUV in and forgot to put the new oil in. He drained the old oil, put the drain plug and the filter on but not the new oil. He let it run for a little to check the level and the motor fried.
