Default Aluminum block build question...

A buddy might be selling me the 4.6 out of his 99 GT when he swaps in a 5.4 (read: IF) and I'd like to replace the block with an aluminum one. My options will likely be either a Teksid block, or an explorer block. Anyone know if I'll run into trouble mounting accessories or finding a timing cover that fits with the PI heads on a 99 4.6 Windsor??

No just another question that has been posted a thousand times! There's no reason to change out the block unless you have weight issues! If you do change the block you'll nee a complete rebuild of the lower half! The cast block can hold plenty of power! Save your money unless like I said if you planned on doing a complete rebuild. Also the mounting holes are the same!

Actually yes, weight is an issue, but thanks anyway, guy. You've been very helpful.

For the curious...Teksid aluminumblocks, italian made and capable of some 900+ Hp are pretty much any 96-98 aluminum Ford block, and some left over ones were put in a few 99s. The ones from late 99 on were Aluminum Windsor blocks, which though about 5 lbs lighter, are only said to hold up to 700hp before splitting in half. For most people, either will do, really.

Targa in case you hadn't noticed he has a sixer and wants to put a 4.6 in his car.

I am not sure but I think they should all bolt right up.
