Worth it to upgrade??

Worth it to upgrade??
I intended on buying 10.5 Deep dish Mach rims to match my stock front so I can mount a wider (315) tire out back...the only problem is the wheels are/will be on backorder for a long long time [:@]
If I keep my stockers (8 inch wide) and throw a set of 275 Nitto Drag Radials on them instead of 315 Nitto Drags on a 10.5 rim, will the traction be almost the same? Or will the 315>275 be very noticeable traction-wise?

RE: Worth it to upgrade??
I know I love the look of big rims, but I read that with bigger rims+tires = more rotational weight which can hurt your ET, as opposed to stock 8 inch rims with 275s...I'm just curious wether or not I can put 275s on a 8 inch rim and if the traction will be comparable to a 315 tire

I wouldn't put a 275 on an 8" rim, I have 285's on a 10" rim and they fit flush. I'd be scared under load they would come undone. 255's max on a 8" wheel imo. Traction is parallel to the type of tire, how soft, tread pattern, side wall hieght, etc. you could just buy DR's for your 8" rim like say 255/40 17's (BFG KDW's are sweet)

RE: Worth it to upgrade??
I've already decided on Nitto 555 Drag Radials due to high tread life (for a DR). They only come in 275 and 315, and from what I've read they run narrow...so many people use them on stock rim.

i think they make the drags on a 245 also... but i would say wait on the rims... they look so bad ***... and that wider tire just looks much meaner than the 275..

RE: Worth it to upgrade??
I would go 17x9's at least for a 275 tire, so you're gonna end up changing your rims anyway to fit that size tire. Just save and go w/the 17x10.5's and get the 315 Nittos. It'll look hot. As for hurting ET's, you won't even notice w/the bigger tires/rims in the rear, but bigger tires/rims in the front could possibly hurt, not that you're doing that anyway. Good choice on the Nitto 555's too, you won't be sorry, but if you're gonna spend time at the track I would get a set of ET streets.

RE: Worth it to upgrade??
I found them from AFS wheels, although they are not shown on their website. E-mail them and they will tell you they are on back order for at least a month[:@]
And I plan on going to the track max maybe one time per year, so Nitto DR's should suite me well as a daily driver on the streets...I think I am going to just wait for the 10.5 rims
