The egr valve weights about 3 pounds you have to inclde that..

I know the CEL will definitely come on if you delete your EGR since I'm a Ford technicia and I have replaced EGR's at work. Even if you could somehow get passed the EGR, the DPFE sensor is connected to the EGR valve and they work together so it'll trip the DPFE sensor code also.
the egr also recycles exhaust gases in order to fully fill the cylinder in the intake stroke (b/c hot gases expand obviously), to help prevent detontation, I know it doesnt seem to make sense b/c you are heating up the chamber but it fills it up and helpspreventrunning too rich or too lean.So although it is only a minor precaution it does help with preventing detonation which isthe biggest killer of our motors.

I had it croak on my 92 Chevy 305 and I blocked it because at the time it was an expensive delear only item.
The result was pinging so I had to reduce the base timing (OBD-1 System) and I just barely passed emissions with borderline HC.
Bottom line was the car ran better with it on so I bit the "bullitt" and replaced it.
My advice is to leave it alone.
I think some tuners have an option to turn it off?
Anyone?

the main facotr of the EGR is to keep our combustion chamber temps cooler, so they dont over heat and cause problems, its a part of the cooling system in a way, helps keep your engine running properly, plus your computer knows when the EGR is working or not, it will throw a check engine light if it is not working, you need to reprogram your computer or geta new one that does not use EGR
