Launch help!!!!!!!!!
So i need some help... I have been messing around with this v6 mustang in town. It is a buddies of mine. It is an 06 auto with 4.10's, k & n intake, a tuner. we have been street racing for a few days now. when we do any kind of punch, i beat him pretty easily, But from a dig, he barely beats me. I have almost bald tires and i keep spinning. He wants to go to the track next week. I will have new tires by then, but can any of you all give me some pointers on launching a 5 speed???
Everyone is going to tell you to launch at this rpm or another rpm. To feather or dump the clutch or what not. But the most important factor in launching is the practice. The more practice launches you do, the better feel you get of your stang. Only you will know what technique is best suited for you. Pointers are always helpful. If you're tired of spinning your tires. Try to feather in the clutch while you press on the gas. Some people say 3-4k rpms. Try it out =D Have fun! Who cares if you run a 15 or 16 second pass at the track. It'll suprise some people when you run 12-13 second pass the next run
Ona stock suspension car with street tires you should not be revving it up very much.
At the strip, get your new tires and then try bringing it up around 2000 RPM. Let the clutch out while applying some throttle (don't stomp it though, ramp into the throttle while letting out the clutch) , and when you get the clutch all the way out (so long as its not spinning) pin the throttle.
So far as beating this guys V6... if thats all you want to do just ease the clutch out and only apply a little gas.. and as soon as the clutch is all the way out floor the car. You should be able to basically just ease out of the hole and so long as you don't spin walk away from him, its only a basically stock v6 for pete's sake!

Well, My car is stock too. All i have is 2 flowmaster super 40's. i might have an intake lined up. when i raced him from a dig, i feathered the clutch and still spun, but only lost by a 1/4 car length. I am not that great of a driver. The guy i am racing is a good friend of mine, but he is a huge smart ***, and the one time he beat me he rubbed it in my face, telling be i should stop by wal-mart and get a for sale sign. It is all in good fun, but i really wanna wax his a$$ one good time so he will stop talking so much smack!!

Once i got going, i did fine. I was very surprised myself to see that v6 run. I really dont think that i am that horrible of a driver. I spun when i hit 2nd and chirped the tires when i hit third. like i said, my tires are in very bad shape!! How much HP does a stock '06 v6 have??Thread
