it has a H- midpipe with the cats taken out and the guy said he thew a blocker in on one of the 02 sensors but the service light still comes on, What kinda MPG on the highway can you get with 4.10's? last time i checked i think i was gettlin like 25 or so on the hwy, i realize a tune would be necessary to get the spedo right but would it make a diff with just exhaust and kn filter? How much of a Diff do underdrive pulleys make? thanks allot for the help so far guys (by far the best forum for stangs) Is changin gears sumin i could do myself, and i noticed that sometimes if i get on it around a corner only one tire will spin (sometimes both) if i takke off straight tho both spin, is this a concern? sorry for all the questions- Holmes

ORIGINAL: holmes14

yeah im thinkin some 3.73's i still want decent highway but 4.10's will be something to think about, Looking at numbers and what not it looks like the 99 gt stays really close with the cobra stock but i got this guy on another forum where i was talkin bout what kinda car to get sayin that the cobra will smoke the GT so it got me kinda wondering although i dont really believe him..... maybe ill have to go looking for cobras haha
i just had 373's installed we don't have the 3650 tranny, i made a post a few weeks ago about my rpms at 75MPH i said 2600 but that was wrong............

75 mph=2450 RPMS
80 is close to 2600 an its annoying on the hwy....

i would do alot of research before you decide to do 410s

4.10's are only too much if you fear the gear.

the sn cobras are pretty even with the edge gt's. the gt has the advantage off the line, and the cobra has the advantage up top. i beat a sn cobra that had full exhuast and some intake mods pretty good when i was on the nitrous tune with out spraying (-15hp)

If you are going to the track with the car frequently and also like a bit of street racing then go 4.10's.
If your car is strictly a DD and a weekend cruiser then go 3.73.

MPG should not enter into the equation because it is a V8 sports car and it does not get great fuel mileage to begin with. Don't get me wrong, I don't like the price of gas either but when I go out for a ride in the mustang fuel economy is the last thing on my mind.
You will see a little higher rev at highway speeds in the 4.10 but many say the mpg is only 1-3 mpg more.

sorry to say but my mustang gets better gas mileage then my 02 trailblazer did. 25+ mpg in a V8 sports car is very good in my opinion, and the car is my daily driver and tear up the streets, sometimes do some drag racing. So MPG is deffinetly a factor for me because i want this car to still be able to go on 10+ hour trips and get 23-25 mph

trust me, a stock 88 gt should not beat a 99gt. i can see a 88 5 speed, well driven versus a 99 gt auto being fairly close at the start, with the 99 pulling harder up top (260 hp vs. 225 hp)
