Default P.I. Intake on non P.I. Heads

I dont understand why everyone and everywhere says the P.I. intake manifold wont fit a non P.I. motor without newer heads or the adapter kit they sell with plates and heater hose. I have installed the manifold on my 98 GT without any problems other than rerouting the heater hose. So why dont they say it fits before 98 and sell plates for it?

well its not a good idea i dont think to put a P.I intake on a Non-P.I. engine. The reason being is you will get better airflow, with the Non-Pi heads which way cause ur engine to run lean. Having the P.I. heads with the P.I. intake fixes this problem, as also ups your compression ratio. I dunno if the intake alone will or will not fit, i just wouldnt do a job half a**

If it fits I dont see the problem. He should not run lean (that is what they make re-programmers for).

Yeah does make it run a little leaner b/c now im getting 20MPG city. But i just would like to know why everyone says it wont fit and why theres a kit to make it fit when it already does. Just seems like scam.

as long as you use the pi head gasket the intake ports will seal up just fine...the only area that may need attention is the water jackets and a small dab of rtv takes care of that.

i dont see why they wouldnt fit.. ive never dealt with a NPI -> PI. Are you sure its an "adapter kit"? it may just be gaskets and stuff you will need in the process. Iit does fit, you still want the PI heads to have the ideal setup with the PI manifold.

no problems here with the rtv, not yet anyways, the swap works, the info is here for people to read, so if there are still nay-sayers out there, o-well, dont get worked up about it, as long as YOU know it works, thats it......

Yeah, I'm going with the Liverois kit and comp cams. If it's good for 30hp with a new tune I'm happy.

that sounds about right...about 15rwhp from the intake, 15rwhp from the cams...maybe even a little more. Swapping the intake/cams on our cars really wake them up
