Default Porting headERS!

Yep:

Got my FRPP ceramic coated headers today (thanks, bud!) and they look sweet, except they could use some help at the intake ports where it meets up to the block...Can I grind this down or will it mess up the coating? Should I just polish it?

Thanks.

headers don't have intake ports but I know what you mean

what are you talkin about, cleaning up some of the uglyness on the inside of the tubing from the welds? Unless its bad don't mess with it.

Oh, and make your sig alittle smaller please so it doesnt stretch out the forums everytime you post!

I didn't know what to call them????

Ok, it's welded on the inside and some metal has built up and sticks about 1/8" all the way around and looks like it would impede flow. Looks like if I could cut that down a lil I'd be golden....like port matching almost.

If you KNOW that the excess material that you remove will not effect the weld strength then use the gasket as a template and grind away.I would use great caution because if you remove too much then those new headers are going to fall apart.

I wouldnt mess with it... just the headers alone is going to mke the exhaust flow 50X better.

I suppose.... On one header tube... (2nd one from front on pass side header) it looks as though it's freaking JAWS. It had teeth! I will try to draw a picture...it looks weird as SHIZ!

Clean it up, use the gaskets as a guideline.

Last thing you want is turbulance you don't need.

Yeah just clean em through if you can, with a dirty toothbrush or something, but i wouldnt try to port them though. They will get the job done.

Oh i thought you were just talking like some type of buildup... Yeah i guess just get rid of those like you said, and then leave the rest alone. I imagine it would work fine.
