The 8th digit does not tell you where the engine is made, it tells you wether or not you have a V6 or a V8, The DOHC I believe is a K
You are right!!! Sorry guys I hate to give false info, but I did think that was the case
The 11th digit will tel you where your car was made! Mine is a 97 with an F so I dunno what fords reasoning is, but I just google viv identification and thats what it told me!

F means your car was assembled in Dearborn, MI like all other 79-04 mustangs, there isnt any digit in your vin that tells you which engine plant your engine was made in. If you search this forum there is a really good thread on all of this.

Well I did some looking up on the VINs and turns out that a W actually is Romeo, while a X is Windsor.
Thats not possible, My car has an X in the 8th digit and it has the romeo engine, and its an 03. There was a big thread about this not too long ago, just search for it.
No- it is possible because you have an 03 and I have a 2000, and the VIN classifications must have changed between those years- probably with the ceasement of Windsors in mustangs. Here is the .Pdf from ford regarding the year 2000 (only) engine classifications:

well at least we figured out that 2000s have windsors lol. Btw- anyone else think the power ratings for the romeos (190-210) and windsors (225) is a little off [&:]

i thought that the windsor was from 99-2000 and 1/2. so that would mean that there is some 2000 with romeo and some with windsor. has anybody else heard this??
