Okay I removed the bolts from the inner dust boot and the shifter. I would recommend to anyone to:

use a swivel. Makes this ALOT easier. Without it I was hitting my Mach 460 stereo, a swivel makes the job easier.

I'm not going to attempt to remove the stock shifter. They said to install the handle (stock) one back on to help rock it out of there. Any tips?

just what it says. i screwed my shifter knobon almost all the way and rocked side to side while pulling with even pressure. does take some elbow greece. just be smooth and pull hard.

Argghhh fuqer won't budge. I think I will try adding the shift **** and then seeing if that helps. I do not want to damage my 3650.

Do I pull at the base of the shifter or on the handle?

I put my old shift **** on... pushed on it and with my other hand on the base of the shifter for more leverage. Just muscle it a lil, thats all it takes. No more posts until you get the shifter in lol jk

LMAO I finally got the stock shifter off and some tranny fluid shoot out everywhere and hit me in the eye. HAHA good times. Okay now I just gotta remove the RTV and then put the new shifter on. What do I do w/ that black ball thingie on the end? Do I save that for the MGW?

Pull using the base.

I quickly skimmed this thread and if you're trying to get the stock shifter off and the gasket and silicone are sticking, try taking a piece of wood, wegdge it near the shifter base, and hit the other side with a hammer. Should knock the stock shifter right off, without damaging the tranny.

EDIT: Eh, a bit too late.

that good times and transmission fluid thing cracked me up man.save the black little cup on the bottomand put it on the new,. and as for cleaning off the top of the transmission. i sprayed a little brake parts cleaner on a paper towell and let it soak in the gunkbefore i used a razor blad on it. the gunk came right up after that.

Hahah note to self : BUY A PUTTY KNIFE OR RAZOR BLADE. Scraping little tiny microscopic pieces of RTV off with your FINGERNAILS is no fun at all., while at the same time trying not to let those tiny pieces fall into the tranny. Brake parts cleaner is a good idea, unfortunately i didn't think of it before and at 10pm there are no places open that sell it.

Oh well, on to the new shifter! Going to reseal it w/ the RTV given, put the MGW inner dust boot over the stocker and slap that baby on.
