You don't need a camshaft lock tool..in fact, i dont even know what it is..just understand that you DONT need one.

as for the COST of getting the tensioners replaced, it'll be expensive just because you have to get all the way to the timing chain cover

well i just replace all of my tensioners and guides today i went to crank it and it made a loud crappy sound and now my motor wont turn so what do i do now

I changed out my tensioners this weekend and used the camshaft positioning tools and crankshaft positioning/holding tool. That made sure that both the cams and crank remained in their proper position.

Did your timing chains come off the sprockets at all? If they did your timing was probably was off. Good luck dude.

well if like there out of timing how would i go about finding tdc and adjusting the cams so that everything will be set back to square 1

mine had 53k on it when the driver side snapped almost 2 weeks ago....and myself and the previous owner BABY the car.... and i ended up with bent valves and a knicked piston.

and trick flow makes a kit for our cars now.

my girlfriends gotten paranoid after mine snapped and she ordered the TF kit on monday and i'll be installing it this weekend in her 99GT w/ 64k.

That just does not make any sense man. I've heard of VERY few instances of that actually happening. One of the other cases was you, in the other thread.. lol..

But seriously, good luck with the swap/replacement, and with your car as well. Hopefully everything goes well for ya.

i know. my g/f is here on the site too, although she spends most of her time in OT ... but shes been worried about it since she read the sticky on it. but whatever, she beats the hell of her GT and its her money.

i've done the replacement in class and on my DOHC build several times, i just havent done it with the motor in the car. hopefully it wont be too bad...
