Default HUGE PROBLEM

alright i need some help. while i was at work, my buddy said he was going to tighten my belt up for me because it's been squeeking. he ended up trying to tighten the wrong pully. as he was pushing on the one in the picture, the screw in the back of it broke the casing of the engine. now there is nothing for the screw to screw it into and it just sits there in the hole. he is taking full responsibility for it and is going to pay for it to be fixed (it was his dumbass fault it broke, he better pay for it) but i need to know what that front peice of the casing is called. and how much do you think it's going to cost to have fixed? i'm guess (just guessing) that the labor is going to be sky high on it, thinking that they'll have to pull the engine out and everything. i have 135k on it, would it be a better decision to just get a newer gt engine to be put in? any help is highly appreiciated!

Oh yeah, and For the Record:

You can'tadjust the serpentine belts on our cars, since they use a Mechanical tensioner..

You can probably get a new Timing Chain cover from a junkyard for a little bit..

i would do it myself but not the guy that tried tightening a car that does not adjust........... timing chain cover everything has to come off just look at the cover and figure how much time to remove everything from the front....................

Ebay has them, just pick one up there or at a wrecking yard. Make sure its a mustang though because even though other cars like the Crown Vic may have the 4.6L SOHC in them they have different accessories and the cover will be different for the different accessories.

Here is a 4V one, sorry I couldnt find one at all on there for you. So you are looking at a wrecking yard right now. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1996-...spagenameZWDVW

And the reason why I listed it is so that you can click the link then click the link at the top of the page for timing components so that you can do a quick search.

Best of luck.

Goto www.Picknpull.com and see which location is nearest you. They can not tell you what they have in stock and they do not pull the part for you. You pull the part if they have your car.
I use to work for a pick n pull in California and we got SOHC mustangs in all the time.

Lesson Learned[sm=icon_beat.gif]!!! Keep your friend in the passenger seat, not under your hood[sm=bicker.gif]! Good luck fixing it, shouldn't be that difficult.
