Default New Mods for this year

Living here in PA I have had plenty of winter days to think about what mods I want to do my car this year. I even listed them in my signature... thats having too much time on your hands!!
Tomorrow It goes to the Tranny shop to have the 373 ring and pinion gear installed. I was surprised at how few mechanics will do this type of work. 370.00 for labor. I got a used ring and pinion from a buddy who only had 5K miles on it. I did spend the extra cash and bought the entire rebuild kit for the rear. Total I will have 550.00 in it.

Thursday the BBK shorty headers, BBK X over ( no converters )and 2 new Flowmaster Ultra 40s. Before I had an H pipe ( with converters ) and Duramax ultras. They didn't sound nice until you really got your foot in the throttle. I'm hoping I didn't go too far with this set up. Any last minute suggestions?

Steve

Reelfast.. I am not a car expert... thats the truth so help me out. Why no go to the cai, injectors and plenium?

Here is where I was heading and like I said.. I am not an expert. Once I went with a bigger TB.. I needed more fuel. I was already running a DiabloSport Predator tune. I had them send me a tune for what I had...#24 injectors and the increased air. I can say that the car does run much faster than it did.... but doing the math I probably spent alot per HP verses some other way. Like I said.. give me some more info or your thoughts. Thanks

I will do some research on stage1 and 2 cams. I don't know much about it but you got me pointed in another direction to research. Hey you have a 68 R/T Charger with a 440 big block? There is a real muscle car. Is it restored? Mopar made some awesome fast stuff back in the 60s early 70s.

Thanks

Steve

Steve,

CAI doesn't do ****, because it doesn't do ****. I'm not a car expert either, but I enjoy them and like to play with them. 19# injectors means they can pump 19 pounds of fuel into your car per hour. Fuel delivery is not an issue with a non-forced induction car. The TB/plenum won't help either because that's not the cause of your air delivery problem. These products sell because of marketing and peoples ignorance. I'm not calling you stupid, just uneducated and don't take that wrong either. (refer to your previous post)

Look, if you want to spend your money to make your car faster it takes a bunch of it. A $200 plenum aint ****. A cam will help you and heads will help you. But once all said and done you might as well put a blower on it because it costs just as much.

Edit: And replace the the 24#ers and replace them with the19#er,s and ditch the "diablo tune."

reelfast is right, the 24# injectors arenot necessary.your 19#ers will be fine till around 300+rwhp. and as for the intake stuff, its good to have, but usually its after the major stuff is done. I waited till all my major mods were on till I started messing with the intake side...
