Default Cleaning wheels?!

My wheels seem to have some dirt on them...no matter how hard I scrub, they won't scrub off. At this point, am I screwed? Is that dirt already eaten up the wheel itself? What else can I try to get that dirt/grime off?

I have some Turtle Wax wheel/tire cleaner...the directions are to spray, wait, and spray off. I did that to no avail, but I may as well try that Armor All stuff. I just wonder if its already too late and the dirt has been eating into the wheel itself.

i've found that cleaners that say "just spray on and spray off" don't really work very well. it works better if you spray on and wipe off with a paper towel or something.

when i'm cleaning my wheels i put the nozzel on "shower", get down real close and while the shower is constintly spraying on the wheel, take my finger and just rub every square inch of the wheel. works very very well with my rims

If your rims are chrome.... you could very easily be screwed because they are about as high maintenance as my damn gf.... The only way i would see any other rim going bad is if you really hadnt cleaned them in forever or you just drive on ****astic roads.

aye, I don't have chrome...I belive they are alloy.

What I usually do is spray it on, wipe the wheel anyway, then hose it off. During the winter time, I would usually go to the car was and spray the **** out of the whole car (wheels included) however I did not wipe the wheels myself....just kinda sprayed and drove away.

is this dirt on the front or rear tires? if it's the rear tires it could be either rubber or asphault (sp?) from burnouts...i dunno, just guessing here without actually seeing it

eh its all around the car (meaning every wheel, some worse than others). I wish I had a digi cam but oh well. [&:]

Like I said, I make an attempt at least to clean the whole car every 1-2 weeks.

It really depends on the wheels you have before we can gice you advice. You said alloy, but are they polished? Do they have a clear coat on them? If they are just polished then you can get some metal polish and polish the sh*t outta them. If its clear, then you would be better off with a liquid clay bar or a buffing compound, but be careful not to buff through the clear. Thats the best advice i can give you. From what you are saying it sounds like they are pitted.
