Default New noise - new clutch??

Okay so I'm driving today and it occurs to me that something sounds different. I'm sure you're all familiar with the "whirring" that you hear from the (manual) tranny, especially once you install a short-throw shifter. Well, all of a sudden this whirring has become much more pronounced. Is this how I know the throw-out bearing is going out on me? Or is something else causing the tranny to whir loudly?

If it's the t.o.b., which clutch am I putting in? I want near-stock clutch feel, and I want to get one while keeping in mind that the car may later be blown. I see people saying they love Spec, some saying they hate it, it's almost pointless asking. But I'll ask anyway. I was told by my local Mustang shop guy that I should go with a Centerforce. Which one is he talking about? This is gonna be expensive...

Thanks for the help

Default RE: New noise - new clutch??

i have the spec stage 1 clutch and the steeda triax short shifter and here a rattle when the car is in neutral and the clutch is not engaged. So im hoping it's not the throwout bearing. But as far as spec goes, the break-in period was scary with burnt clutch smell and slipping, but after about 1000 or so miles it felt similar to the stock clutch. I could only find the heavy duty centerforce clutch for sale which cost a lot more money than the stage 1 or 2 spec clutch so that was a decision maker for me. But if you have the money to spend than i would say centerforce is probably a better clutch. My speed shop also recommended centerforce over spec if that helps.
