Default PI swap compression reduced?

Just a thought, I was wondering if you use a thicker head gasket when you do the PI swap, would it lower the compression from 10:1 to something else?? This question just came to mind and I just want to know if it makes any sense.

Yes, it will. If your doing this planning on running boost its not a gaurantee that they will blow though.

And just so you know, compression will be 10.5:1 after a PI swap.

Cometic are the only company that makes a gasket for that purpose. Why would ya want to anyway? Compression=power!!!
You may have timing problems with those gaskets!

Honestly, with the hassle of pulling the heads, doing the chains etc, and the prices I have been seeing people get for complete used PI engine assemblys (600-1000) I dunno why people even bother with the NPI swap.

Just get a PI engine/computer and be done with it. You get basically the same powerlevel as a NPI swap, lower compression, and probably in most cases a engine with less miles on it. If you can do a PI swap you can surely do a complete engine swap, the only extra thing you would have to do is the transmission/engine mount bolts, and neither is as difficult as removing the heads and redoing the timing.

you dont need the PI computer the 96-98 computers are actually better for the PI engines!

+1. I'm in the middle of doing the PI swap and I wish I just swapped a PI engine. It's half of the work. It's good practice doing the head swap, though. And you also get to take the heads apart yourself and clean everything up and rebuild them yourself as well as taking most of the engine apart to clean. Even so, I still recommend just swapping a whole engine. It is so much easier.
