What do you guys use?? Is carb and choke cleaner spray good??

You want an eletrical contac cleaner. Its designed to be non conductive and will not leave a residue. Compressed air is good also... possibly rubbing alcohol.

anything else I would stay away from to clean it.

you can find the electrical contact cleaner at radio shack for like 3 bucks a can, so its not to bad.

Make certain the Rat Shack contact cleaner is not the one with the lubricant in it (also called tuner cleaner) or you will have a mess on your hands.
Also you want to use isopropyl alcohol, not rubbing alcohol becuase rubbing alcohol has other chemicals in it which is one reason it has a different smell.
Isopropyl alcohol is pure, mostly.
