Default Keyless Entry

Just got my 97 GT out of storage, ever since it was new I have had short range on the keyless entry, new batteries have never helped. You have to be about 5 feet from the door to make it work. All my other vehicles have much better range. Any you guys have the same problem or know where the receiver is on the vehicle?

Thanks!

My 99 Contour didn't have much range(10ft at best)with the keyfob, either. Could be just the technology or placement they were using at that time.
