wow. the stock intake is not the same as a cai. the cai replaces the convoluted tubing so it flows way way better. pluse have you seen the opening that the stock air box pulls air through?
This is quite simply not so--the OEM intake IS a CAI and even with the snorkle can move entirely (and then some) enough air to keep an n/a 4.6L 2V perfectly happy--this said, I did trim the snorkle back a bit; it still protrudes into the wheel well, but only by 1/2" or so... Put in a K&N gauze pack if you want, but other than make the intake noisier it won't do anything that a OEM stlye filter won't--except not filter as well. The OEM paper filter has 3-4 times the surface area of the K&N, so the K&N would have to flow 300% to 400% better then the paper to just break even--it doesn't.----------------------------Oh I forgot--the K&N's do filter better as they clog up...

I'm gonna have to say the gains of that are next to nothing. Regular cai's are pretty much worthless as far as i'm concerned. I've never had one, air getting into the engine isnt a problem on our cars.

I agree 110%, and as much as I hate to say it you'd be better off slapping one of those silly K&N things into the OEM airbox--unless of course, in your world, performance is secondary to underhood "bling, bling", and you really don't care how long your engine lasts...czwalga00gt hit the nail right on the head when he wrote "...air getting into the engine isnt a problem on our cars."

To those of you saying that the stock intake is good. The bumps in the stock rubber, cause a ripple effect in your flow. Making the air go all over the place. Its not a straight shot in how the CAI's are. Also any aluminum intakes aren't all that great either. The JLT makes more power, because of its 4" diameter, and its plastic build. No metal = No heat soak.
