I thought that was the point of driving a powerful american car, not having to strip of the door panels and stuff just to loose a few pounds. Only people I see doing that are people and their tuner cars.

i have a 4.6 stroker with a pi swap, stage 3 camsand full bolts ons no spare tire i was thinkin about lossin the A/C but it gets hot in the summer, i am orderin a new short block with a alum upgrade
If you have these mods and are getting pulled on by 5.0's, than them 5.0's arent stock. You should be running low 13's to high 12's with your mods, and I'm pretty sure weight isnt too much of a factor with that much power. But if you want, take out back seats and passenger seat, and any other non-essential stuff you dont need.
Weight is ALWAYS a factor. You could have 1000 WHP but weight still plays a massive part, both from a stop and a roll.

Force = mass x acceleration... so force divided by mass = acceleration. The less mass, the more acceleration you have, plain and simple physics.

To the original poster though, if 5.0s are getting you off the line it isn't nessicarilly because you weigh more. You didn't mention anything about suspension in your sig. Also, what tires are you running?

If you have a stock suspension, look into some springs, adjustable shocks/struts, and control arms. if your running stock tires, switch to a drag radial. if your still getting beat off the line then either they just have a better setup or you cannot drive

well i've removed a TON of stuff...a/c is a good one if you don't mind it, the rear seat, spare tire and jack are good. After that you may want to kick your passenger out and tell him take his/her seat with them because after that the only significant weight reduction is the carpet, but i doubt u wanna do that (while on the other hand, the only interior piece i have from stock is the drivers seat, dash and steering wheel)

someone post the website with all the weights listed
Well lte's see. Your back seats weigh about 15lbs.. Your spare tire and jack weigh about 15lbs Your entire carpet weighs maybe 20lbs. Your passenger seat weighs 30lbs. All of those and you've saved yourself 95lbs and an ugly *** interior all for .1 (one tenth)in the 1/4mile, yeah not this guy!!! If you really wanna save some weight do what I do Only fill your gas tank to HALF FULL!!! Gas weighs a ton! iI think they are 16 gallons and 8 gallons of gas weighs a good 40lbs!
http://users.adelphia.net/~mustang-9...0Reduction.htm

removing the rear seat (assuming its leather, with headrest), spare tire and jack, carpet (dumb, don;t do it) and thetrunk carpet andsupport, and the 3 seatbelts (2 in back,1 passenger)would result in a weight savings of around 153 pounds... nothing to shake a stick at.

Assuming you then got a good lightweight racing seat for the drivers side your looking at around 193 pounds. If you think that doesn't make a difference, just put someone in your car and go drive around.. it does.

Weight reduction makes a giantic difference. Why do you guys think code3 can go dammed near (and soon will) 11s on just 340 WHP (n/a)? The launch makes up a large part of it, but the biggest difference is the weight reduction.

yup weight plays a big role, but you have to look on the more practical side 2000 4.6, if these guys plan on driving this car regularly losing that bit of weight is a waste if you can only have 1 person in the car, now if they plan it to be a drag car then sure, but I know I would rather keep my weight of seats rather than lose it for a 10th second for the few times in a year I go to the strip.

Aluminum driveshaft would help...it's not much but everything combined would add up. Plus, the DS wouldn't make your interior look like a racecar! (not that it is a bad thing)

If you start taking out seats and carpet and stripping the inside, its gonna look like a racecar (which I think looks pretty cool). The driveshaft isn't going to be seen much unless it is up on a lift or something.
