Default is an aluminum driveshaft worth it?

I have other projects going on right now so I won't be getting it right now. I was just wondering if it's worth it since they've gone up so much in price over the years. I know it won't free up much hp, I was mainly thinking as a safety issue (less rotational weight = less carnage). I'm thinking my next 2 mods will be a driveshaft and rearend girdle. Any opinions?

Mike

If you go with a lower gear sometimes you will end up with a driveshaft vibration. An alluminum driveshaft will be less likely to have vibrations...

I ahve 4.10 and haven't noticed a vibration. I was mainly wanting to know how much less stress it causes on the tranny, and what HP gains (if any)can be expected

Driveshaft is well worth it.
Longevity and less weight.
Less restriction on the tranny
Less of rear end
Able to put some extra RWHP to the rear wheels..

Think of it as giving freedom to the HP you have thats being wasted by the stock driveshaft.

i was told by my local tuner (they also build racecar motors) that it wasnt needed for my mods, ill befull bolt ons, n20, slicks...i was going to buy one but they told me if i had a manual it would help but mines an auto so i didnt really need one at this time. the tranny and rearend should be just fine for the occasional weekend drag racing but what are your future mods?

i was reading somewhere that you'll gain some power because of the fact that instead of your engine turning 40lbs of driveshaft, your engine will only have to turn 18lbs. with the alum. driveshaft

I just bought one and I like it. Not a huge diffence (hardly noticable) but it's lighter than the stock P.O.S.
