swap 96gt motor in a 02gt
i'm in the process of building my friends '02 motor and he can get a '97 motor for like $500
we're wondering about any issues about putting that motor in the '02
the '02 motor had rod failure and getting everyrthing is going to take a while money wise so he still wants to drive the car, that's the reason for installing the motor
thanks

NObecause he'll lose 50hp because the 96gt has non-pi heads. 210hp vs. 260hpAlso the crank is diff in the 96 anyways. 1996-mid2001 had 6 bolt cranks and mid-01 to 2004 had 8 bolt cranks. You would have to change all that stuff over (flywheel components) You would also need the 96 computer. It's not even worth it!!! You'd be taking a few steps back with that engine

it's not worth the time to swap that into the car. Go rent a vehicle till it's fixed, it's alot more time efficient.

Seriously though... it is WAY to much work to be practical! Tell yer friend to take that $500.00 and go buy a beater to drive around in for awile!

Take that just one step farther... go rent an 04 GT...(if you can find one), make sure you get the warranty, and swap motors! Then call them up abd say "WTF? your POS car just died on me!" [sm=icon_sneaky.gif] Problem solved!
