Default Differntials %*&@!

when i turn my car the rear makes a crazy banging noise, my friend says my rear tires lock up while my front ones keep spinning, with the little car knowledge i have im assuming its my differentials, and that i need to replace them.
my question is what kind should i get, and are there after market ones worth looking at, are they all the same, do i just stick with ford parts???? thank you

You might want to have that looked at by a service tech somewhere before you fork out money on new parts. Youbuy the car new? Sounds like a spool to me.

It does sound like a spool. How hard of a turn do u have to make for this to happen? It may also be that, when the differential (there's only one on a mustang) was last serviced, someone forgot to add friction modifier to it. This in turn will toast your clutch packs and may cause the locking up of the wheels. Have it looked at by a tech.
