Default JLT RAI Install Issue

I just installed my JLT RAI on my stock 01 GT and when I started her up, it idled pretty rough and had some popping from the exhaust. I drove it some and it was bogging down when I would open her up and it rode rough. I put my stock air box back on and she went back to normal. Any idea what I might have done wrong? Thanks!

I would make sure you had all of the rubber connections completely hooked up. Also, no gaps between the MAF and the inlet pipe. Did you disconnect your batter for a half hour to reset the comp? You need to drive your car for a bit so the comp can learn the new air curve.

Reset your computer for a couple of minutes not necessarily a half an hour and make all the connections are plugged in tight when you turn it on

I'm pretty sure the connections were tight but I wil double check when I try to re-install. I did disconnect the battery for a while, but I doubt it was for 30 min. I will try that as well. I didn't drive too much because the way it was bogging down, I didn't want to break down and not be able to get back to the house. Should I expect the rough idling and bogging down when I first install this?

No it shouldnt be like that at all...But if one of the connections was loose at all, it will throw the computer into limp mode and will bog pretty bad

A couple minutes will not put the comp back in learning mode. It needs to be at least 20.

It sounds to me like you were getting umetered air. Also, did you intall the MAF so that the sensor is in a vertical position with the sensor pointing tword the ground?

I installed everything just like the stock air box except I had another plug near the MAF that I had to make a hole in the tube for. I put that on the bottom so it was out of sight. I will try disconnecting the battery first, then taking the stock box off and putting the JLT on. That should be enough time for the computer to reset. It was a pain to get lined up to fit in the engine bay so maybe it was a loose connection. I wish I had a garage to work on it some more tonight...
