My auto rips 5spds a new *******. Any logical person knows, by the time you put your clutch to the floor, an automatic has already shifted and hit the next gear. The only thing autos lack is a valve body/shift kit, gearing and a good stall, all of those combined drop an easy .5 off the quarter mile, that means mid to high 13's all day with just tranny work/gears. The expense to repair both trannies are quite close, yet the auto will easily outlast the 5spd while out performing it with a few mods. Anyways to each their own.

Srt4's are fun to drive im sure, but if you have ANY perspective of what the car looks like while your driving it, I only see it being fun when no other cars are around. lol

and any logical person knows a stock auto can't exactly LAUNCH. if you're going from rolls, sure, it's easy. if you're going from a dig in a stock auto, good luck getting them rev's up

WOW MAN you brought up a good point. lol save up $500 and buy a used nitrous kit and slap it on your stang and run mid-low 12s all day. lol way cheaper than modding up a srt-4
But you can slap nitrous on a skittle too.
+1 to auto's better with a stall and manual valve body

Your not gonna see mid 11s with just 5K in a SRT-4. Hell, I have pretty big doubts about seeing 12s with just 2k as well. Its all nice to list a list of mods, but when it comes to launching the car down the track and acutally getting it done...

In any case, unless your a moron and want to die you can't run around with drag radails on the SRT-4 everyday on the street... and you can with the stang. If you have 5K for mods you have enough for a vortech SQ setup and pretty much a full suspension (control arms, shocks, struts, springs) with some left over. I guarentee you won't be disapointed with your stang after doing that.

Even a bone stock GT with just a vortech + suspension + decent tires and your looking at a mid 12 car with a decent driver, and its all downhill from there. A few more boltons, some work on the rearend and some better tires and your looking at high 11s in a completely streetable car that still gets 20 MPG.

BTW, another thing I am not convinced of is that the MPG is gonna be any better. I have talked to a couple SRT owners and most are getting about 20 MPG... I get that in my FI gt with cams
Speaking of drag times, what have you run?

Alright enough of the auto stuff. I really does not take that long to manually shift a Mustang and you can shift it where you want so you have more control over the car. I can't stand waiting for an automatic trans car to shift.

If you buy a Neon you are driving a girls car. I don't care if the damn thing has a rocket attached to it running 7s.

i laugh at srt-4s....i would rather drive a freakin scooter than a car that sounds like one. fast or not, they are pathetically ugly and sound like a balloon getting the air squeezed out of it. i added my vortech for just over 4000 installed and tuned. all you need is tires and a clutch and youll walk most srt-4s...or at least the ones around here. if your even contemplating trading in a healthy v8 for a pathetic little 4cyl then you need to be shot.
