ive rode in both and the 5.0 seems a little quicker stock might just be me but my friend has a stock minus exhuast 94 gt auto ive driven it alot and its a quick car i really like it he got it for only $1300 w/140k need paint and a little tlc i wish i wouldve bought it now instead i bought my 84 P.O.S.fox gt for $400 from the same guy lol

get the 5.slow the 4.6 1996 mustang gt is the worst year ever ever ever ever...especailly if that slug is an auto

go with the 5.0 the mods are cheaper and respond better to them then the 96 4.6, the old 4.6 hwere kinda a step down compaired to the 5.0

Damn. Everyone is hating on the '96 GT ... Lets not forget that the 4.6 is a way better running engine that'll give you a much more reliable base plant. Sure it's slow, but a PI swap and you're right up there in power. The 5.0 is much cheaper tomod, but I still vote for a 4.6 just because I have one [8D]PI swap then a blower! FTW!!!

ide stick with the 4.6 i have a 97, not sure how much better it is than a 96 but i eat the sn95 5.0s

I've got a 4.6 but would tell you like almost everyone else to get the 5.0. They have so much potential and as stated before, aremuch cheaper to mod. Plus, you don't have to worry about the plastic intake!

Do you guys think the NPI heads are comparable to the E7 heads, as far as crappy ness goes?

Not absolutely sure but it is going to be cheaper to buy a set of heads for the 5.0 and there are a lot more options for the 5.0
