I have a 98gt and a friend who would sell me a hypertech programmer if it worked for my car. he has a 01 cobra. I basically need it to get this check engine light off now that i have a mac o/r h pipe. will it work for that even though its a different year and model? thanks guys.

ok thanks. and "no" to the name stealing. you can only rhyme stang with so many things i guess. plus mine sounds a little perverted, which made it sentimental.

This unit will also read the CANBUS and shows manufacturer specific codes as well as the general OBDII codes.
In addition it shows you if all the monitors have run so that you are ready for an emissions inspection.
A lot of people don't realize that if these monitors have not run, your car is not ready for emissions inspection and if the only problem
is that they have not run yet, the MIL light will NOT be on.
Some of them can take days before they will run because certain, very specific conditions of driving must be meant.

BTW removing power from the PCM starts the cycle all over again which is why you don't want to do that unless you have to.
The Evap monitor is the biggest PITA to get to run BTW.
Enough babbling, if all you need is a code reader this one is a good choice.
You could always go to Autozone though and they will reset it for you for free.
thanks steve. i know autozone can clear everything out....but basically i can just go there on emmision day, clear the code, and as long as it stays off long enough to pass the diagnostic test im good? (they've never looked under the car before)..that almost sounds to easy. but yeah in the long run i am going to want the code gone. So my options are mil eliminators, the scanner, and autozone. thats it right? theres no hypertech or diablo (or other)product that allows you turn off the rear o2s or anything like that?
