Default newbie questions pls don't flame :)

Hi guys

I am pretty new to mustangs first of all. I used to own a 2000 celica and also a bmw 3series coupe. I have always admire to own a stang while i was shopping for my celica. Anyway , now I am rethinking to buy a 2002-2004 gt . I have couple questions , if you answer and give any feedback, I appreciate it

1) Any problems for 2002-2004 year gt's ? Like transmission, gear grind or etc ?

2) How is the gas consumption? I know it is a v8 but lets say how many miles with a full tank of gas without pushing the gas hard

3) I test drove a 2002 convertible gt, it seemed little bit heavy to me. Is there any weight differences between coupe and conv ? I test drove a 350z and it was very quick , is the coupe gt little bit slow during acceleration and get fast at higher speeds ?

Thanks guys

The gt might be a little slow in acceleration, but you put some 4.10's or 3.73 gears in it and youll see the diff. Gas is okay just remember its a V8 and your gonna wanna drive it hard i know its hard for me to hold off my pedal ha..

You cannot compare a 350Z to a 02GT. Those cars are just going to be much more snappier than the GT's because the way they are geared! The verts are 300lbs heavier than the coupes which relates to .3 tenths slower in the 1/4 mile for ex. 14.6 vs 14.9 Not a huge diff compared to the fun you can have with a vert. I would see if it has an Aluminum crossover tube on the intake. That's the piece just behind the alternator which is bolted to the radiator neck. The rest will be plastic. They usually crack if they are all plastic. If it's vert most likely it has the Mach upgraded sound! Your looking at 20-22mpg highway and 14-18 city

over in the street/strip section there is always a mustang GT vs. 350z thread and overall it is a drivers race, i'm sure the 350z seemed a little more responsive because of the engine, but they hang neck and neck from what i've heard.

Yea it's a drivers race going against a 350Z.

Get a manual tranny! Makes all the difference in driving fun & better performance. And yea get the vert [8D] they're only 150lbs heavier than coupes
