My mother-in-law has a 2006 G35 Coupe with the auto. As long as you go from a standing start you "should: win. They are quick little cars, but don't have great "off the line" power.

With the 3.73's it should be a good race.I think you would nose him out.

I raced alot of g35s and they are quick . I would stay about a whole car in front of them and once we reach about 100mph they just catch right up! Im pretty sure if you do it from a dig you can beat him. Seems like they have real good top end...

There is a coupe and a sedan, both come with transmission, gear and engine options.
The worst that you can run against is a 306hp 6spd Coupe. So as long as he doesnt have that it will be a fun race. Oh ya, another worst case event would be him having the xAWD with the 306hp engine, then your f*cked.

I hate it when people knock these cars too because they are imports. They are rear wheel drive and produce as much power as a Mach1. The torque may not be as high (268ftlbs compaired to 320ftlbs)but its still very impressive for a 3.5L.

Personally I would much ranter get a G35 Coupe Touring Sport6MT306hp than a Z because of the rear seats. I am a sucker for the 2+2 after having the 93' ZX for so long. I like the Z's front end though, so I would just bolt it on

Also, with the cover off, these engines are ugly as sin to look at. They are hard to tune with just bolt ons and any worth while power added costs a sh*tload of money (Aside from Nitrous.)

Go somewhere safe and have a fun race, it will give you an idea of where you stand

I think you'll lose. I raced my friends 350z auto and took me by about 2 car lenghts. That was with all the mods in my sig. By the time my car downshifted he was like a car ahead already.They are pretty quick. Our race was from a 30 roll and from dead stop my car would spin like crazy and his wouldn't. good luck though.

i raced a g35 from a dig before my control arms and shocks and struts and it was even 1st gear but then after 2nd (when i started to get traction) it was bye bye. i said no (meaning its a drivers race) bc the verts are heavier and the Auto isnt as quick as the manual. i say that bc i drove an auto vert and it seemed sooo much slower than my car. if you get the gears i think you will probably pull on him if you get traction
