No the stage 2 comp are only .550 lift i thought.Idont think uhave to doanything to make your comps. to fit.If your going for sound then vt all the way but on horsepower i wouldnt thinkthere much of a diff. in horsepower
they have a 5 degree advance.. wont fit without degreeing the hell out of the cams (takes away the purpose of that extra power added from the comp). just get the vt, they are way easier to install... i have not successfully put comp cams on a car yet, i have a friends car i have just about gave up on getting cams to fit and degreeing it.. funny thing is, a ford tech came over... he started to stare at the engine like he didnt know it was a dohc or sohc or maybe even a 5.0. lol i am more qualified to work on cars than this guy that does it for a living at a dealership

im running the same year car as you and the stage 2 cams from VT work AWESOME.. the only thing you have to do is upgrade your springs and get a tune ASAP. the car will not run right until it gets tuned. stage 2 vt cams were NOT easy to put in, but they didnt require anything to be cut. however, what cam is easy to put in.
