i have a 02 gt 5 speed and when its cold it grinds going in to 2nd from 1st. if i down shift to 2nd it dosent do it but up shifting it does. after it warms up it stops and its smoth.... should it be something i should get in the shop now or should i just keep and eye on it because if it sounds like a time bomb waiting to happen then i want to get it fixed thanks

 

Only time you shift from 2nd to first:

1. At a stop
2. Almost at a stop
3. If your about to wreck

 

now that i look at my post i screwed up. when i go from 1st to 2nd it grinds, but if i go from 3rd to 2nd it dosent sorry about the confusion

 

Thats just a ford tranny for ya.Mine does the same thing but I've got an MGW
