Can long tube headers fit an automatic with an catted x pipe? Or am I stuck with shorty or midlength headers?

i remember seeing someones cardomain page, he had an 01 auto gt with long tubes. you have to modify something for them to fit. lemme see if i can find his page

Stanggang1892 put em on his, and he has an 02 auto. It wasnt easy, but they got em to bolt up just fine.

I'm just wondering because the guy that installed my midpipe said I couldn't have long tube headers with the automatic.

I have long tubes with a auto and its a convertable. SO there's your answer and your mech. obviously was not well informed.. I could only find MAC LT for my auto and it being a convertable. SLP makes them for a auto, but not the convertable. Price is about $450 for the MAC and $800 for the SLP(for auto only). Very tight fit, no modifications to the k-memeber. If you got more questions, let me know. PLease make sure you check b4 buying any LT, most will tell you that they don't fit on auto, but I've seen some that don't say crap and it's your buck. I bougth my LT 2 years ago, it's very possible that there might be another company making them . Hope this helps.

you have to havethe O2 sensor bung plugged and moved to the other side of the header on the passenger side because of interference with the trans pan.

If you plan on ever removing the tranny with longtubes still on the car, then SLP is not the brand for you. I think with Hooker they will fit an auto and can remove the tranny with the headers still on.

I've got hedman longtubes for my automatic. They are definitely wide enough for autos. Macs are also good for autos. As for installing them, go with a professional and while you're at it buy a tubular k member for easy access if you need to tighten them. And also get stage 8 locking header bolts. You won't regret it.
