I guess the question is, when overheating, is the top radiator hose warm and the bottom radiator hose cool/normal temp?
IMHO that would point to the Tstat being stuck and requiring another changeout.

justa got my car back on monday. they said something was wrong with the crossover tube (buncha bs) so they replaced it...... its all good though, i didnt pay a cent outta my pocket...seems to be working fine buti'll have to wait another week to find out
well if one is hot and the other isnt, it could be either cause the radiator/intercooler is working or you have some type of blockage in there. if its not any of those, and your check engine light isnt coming on, you may have a short. ARE YOU SURE ITS OVERHEATING?? is the heat off the engine more than normal? one of your wires could have melted the outer coaking eposing the wire causing a short to read high temperature. if nothing works, id drain the coolant, check its color and how much corrosion there is.

no, what was established is your t-stat's kept going bad and the gauge says it is overheating. you never said anything about actual heat off of the car, therefore i assumed a short. and you said one hose was hot, the other wasnt, i know when my cars overheat EVERYTHING gets hot, not just 1 hose
if its get bad again i know for sure what the problem is. Chrome wheels are cousing you to heat, now now dont worry i will fix this for free and trade wheels with you! my wheels are alloy which keep the car extreemly cold

I am having a similar problem and would like some suggestions/help.
Last week while waiting at a light to get on the freeway I smelled what I though was burning rubber smell. I didn't think is was me. While accererating to get on the freeway my engine sputtered and did not accelerate correctly. I also noticed that I was not getting any boost. After a couple of miles I noticed that my temp gauge was climbing. I got off the highway and shut down the car. I let it sit and cool down for 10 minutes. When I started the car the gauge was at the normal operating location and I proceed to drive the last mile home via surface steets. About half way home the temp needle climbed up again so I stopped and waited then drove the rest of the way home. Each time the needle got darn close to the black line at the upper limit. As 2002GTAUTOVERT mentioned in an ealier post, the engine should seem very hot. My engine did not seem that hot when I opened the hood. I also don't think it would cool down to normal temps in only 10 minutes. I'm wondering if I have a short that is triggering the gauge to climb. The next day I let it warm up to normal temps in the garage and then took it out for a short trip. Once again it started to overheat.
Should I replace the thermostat or spend my time looking for a short?
klarkent42, did you ever find the exact cause of your problem?
On a side note...does the PCM some how shut off the supercharger under overheating conditions to help reduce engine temps?
Thanks,
Al
