Default What kind of oil?

Im going to change my own oil for the first time in my mustang this weekend.Is there some betterkind of oil I should use? What kind of oil do you guys use? What about the filter?

royal purple 5w30 with a K&N filter...as for better oil...only synthetic

You have opened Pandora's Box with this question! Some guys use Mobil 1, Ams, Castrol Syntec or Royal Purple. I would tell you to use one of the above oils and you will be fine. Just make sure it's a full synthetic with a decent oil filter. FYI, if you use one of the above, don't change your oil every 3k miles. You will be throwing money away.

Most people use either Mobil 1 or Royal Purple. Use a Motorcraft Oil Filter.

Stay away from Fram and supertech.

I know a guy thatchanges oilat the local Ford dealership and he saysthey use 5w20.

I usually put 10W30 in all my cars. It's just my preference.

It doesn't say to use synthetic. So if you only use whats recommended, then why would you suggest Mobil 1?

My point is, you don't have to use the recommended oil. I always use 10W30 because I tend to be hard on cars and it's a little added protection. They recommend 5W30 or 20 whatever, to get the lower emissions rating. If you don't have a clue, then use whats recommended. If you're comfortable with something else, then use that.
