Default cobra compression

What is the compression ratio for the 03-04 Cobras? I was just wondering how the hell those things take 20+ psi. Is that on stock internals?

The stock internals are forged on the '03/'04. With a good tune 15-20 psi isnt that big of a deal to them.

I think the compression ratio is 8 somthing. Like JD said, those bishes are forged all out. 12 PSI is just getting started with onea those.

hey 94cbra you should upgrade to the stock 98 cobra style hood, with those snouts i think they are the best looking hood out there on that body style. one was ridin behind me today and it looked mean as sh*t!

Whoops... sorry dude. The compression ratio for a '03/'04 Cobra is 8.5 to 1 .

what exactly does the compression ratio mean, like you said for a cobra it's 8.5:1. and also you can raise it to 15-20 psi with the stock eaton blower? or would you have to get a kenne bell to do something like that? or would the diablo chip with the eaton work fine?

Default RE: cobra compression

to my knowledge, i'm not to exact on this, compression ratios are figures based on piston configuration, air and fuel combustion ratios. the flatter the piston head the more pressure it will combust at the top of it's travel. domed piston create less compression because they have reliefs built in. the 03-04 cobras probably have domed pistons the lower compression (pressure) in the cylinders, thus not igniting the air/fuel mixture as strongly as a high compression engine. eaton blowers do not have enough volumetric efficiency to produce over 14 psi, so anything over the they are just creating heat not boost=detonation plus not horsepower gains. i hope this gives you a rough idea of your question

oh and you cannot raise compression ratio unless you change pistons. you can raise boost though
