Default Transmission Dieing?

On the way home tonight, I started to hear a noise, and it felt like it was coming from under the cup holder on my center console.

When I switch gears, let off the clutch, and first give it some gas, I hear a clanking sound. It sounds like somethings lose, and when it gets more throttle it tightens up and goes away. What could this be a sign of? Its not a grinding. Clanking is the best I can describe it.

In all honesty, I haven't abused the car. I've still yet to do any burn outs or extremely hard launches. And the hard launches are few and far between. Most the time, I only get on it in rolls.

Could very well be a suspension noise or U-Joint. Grab your driveshaft and check for u-joint play and retorque all your suspension bolts.

How many miles on it?

45,000 miles. Driveshafts firm.

Gonna put it on the left tomorrow and see what I can take apart and tighten up.
Maybe this will be my chance to get a beefed up 6 speed. [:@]

Very unlikely to have a transmission or even a clutch problem with that low of mileage unless your really beating on it or riding the clutch alot.

I know I had a clunking type noise recently in mine that sounds very similiar to your problem. Turned out to be a worn control arm bushing. I tightened up the nut some more and it went away.

Visual inspection is always best at first though.

Ahh, well you did say suspension. I'll look it over, just have to move some stuff to get it on the lift. I did install upper/lower control arms, and strut braces last week...
