YO KEN!, You're an idiot!
wow does anyone every read the "YO, KEN!" articles in MM&FF, to me it's entertaining to see someone giving out such bad info on a monthly basis in such a popular magazine!

"DRAG TIRE'D"
It seems everyone writing to you is working on his or her engine, but what good is all that horsepower if you can't get it to the pavement? I have an '01 Mustang Cobra that I'm slowly building up. Right now it has the IRS rearend, and I'm using 17-inch rims with BFGoodrich 275/40-17 Drag Radial tires. I plan on changing to a solid axle with a spool and 4.30 gears (I have 4.10 gears in it now). My question is, what size rims, back spacing, and drag slicks should I use without doing anything to the fenders? What rubber compound-soft, medium, or hard? I need the biggest size that will fit without the slicks hitting or rubbing the fenders.

Wayne, the largest drag tire you can fit on your Cobra, without any modifications, would be a 10.5-inch slick. If you are looking to stay close to the tire diameter you have now, I suggest the M/T 28x10.5-inch slicks. They have a good tire compound and should work well on your Cobra. I recommend an 8-inch rim with a 4-inch backspacing for your Cobra.
Yo, Ken you are an idiot!!! The BFG 275/40-17 has a diameter of 25.7" and the M/T 28x10.6-15 has a diameter of 28.1, those 2 diameter are not even close!! The guy clearly stated that he did not want to do anything to his fenders so you suggest an 8" rim with a 4" BS... you are an idiot. If he is to run an 8" rim he needs a 5.5" BS to tuck the rim under the car. A 4" BS with probably bring the wheel past his fender lip and the 28" tire is going to tear his car up.
I can't believe this idiot gets paid to give out bad info.

if they haven't noticed by know then they don't have a clue either. I know I'mnot alwaysright, but if I got paid to be as inaccurate as he is, I'd be a weather man.

I only buy those mags to look at the pictures and then read the "tech articles" while I'm on the crapper.

Isn't it a shame though. If they did just a little research for the info they give out and try not to flog dyno numbersintrying to sell what ever part they are testing, it could be more than bathroom material.
